| Bob Oliver's Hot Seven |
Hailing from the South the Bob Oliver Hot Seven were formed in 1993. They started out with the specific intention of building a repertoire of classic traditional jazz numbers with a strong selection of numbers from lesser known quality "out of town" bands of the 1920''s. The band has performed at the prestigious Edinburgh Jazz Festival, Cork International Jazz Festival, Bude, Upton and many other of the best known jazz venues. They have featured in venues across Holland and France. They have recorded a specially commissioned CD of vintage jazz classics for the ''Stomp Off'' label in the USA. Their music is varied in content, with a wide repertoire to call on it would be; but it is always focused on vintage traditional jazz New Orleans style. They are not called the Hot Seven for nothing, in fact they play sizzling jazz. The band only plays for 8 months of the year now, for from November to March Bob heads off to Malta. We are fortunate to have been able to engage them to play at the start of their very rare tour of the North. You are highly unlikely to see them here in the Fylde again, don''t miss this once only chance! |
